Siraj Zaidi (B.Sc & LAMDA) is a graduate of
The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts,
specialising in performing Arts. After LAMDA
Siraj spent two years with the BBC World Service as
an actor- Broadcaster. Since 1986, he has made Ireland
his home and worked in theatre, radio, TV and film.
He is the Chief Executive and Managing Director of Meem
Productions Limited, a film and television production
company that he formed in 1989. His company was grant
aided and chosen by the Dublin Business Innovation
Centre for support during the early 1990’s. Nine years ago he has planted a seed, and proposed to RTE a Multi-Culture
programme on national television, he tirelessly campaigned
for this programme. MONO the current series on RTE 1 is the
result. He directed and produced and presented a six
part TV documentary series ‘Away and Home,’ broadcast on RTE 1 August – September 1998. He has also produced,
directed and presented a four part TV series ‘Our View’ which was broadcasted on UTV and TG4 during the summer of 1999.
It is now distributed worldwide.

He
has made contribution to the Irish Government department
of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands new documents
“Towards A new Framework For The Arts”
A Review of Arts Legislation (2000). He is currently
serving as an executive member on the Dublin City
Community Forum, a part of the Dublin City Development
Board –2012 Plan. He is a chairperson of the
Cultural Cluster of the Dublin City Community
Forum. He has recently conceived, commissioned and
completed a feasibility study on the Ireland’s first
National Multi-Cultural Centre. He is a member
of the Dublin Community Television.
He
has participated in 2002 Guinness living Dublin Awards.
In
1990, in conjunction with the Dublin Chamber of Commerce,
he organised the first international seminar on the
Irish Film Industry and presented a paper.
In
1991, during the 43rd International Film
Festival in Cannes, he represented Ireland at the Commonwealth/ELCP
Co-Production Colloquium.
In
1994, his development and pre-production work on the
film ‘Honey and Saffron’ was selected from Ireland
for inclusion in ‘World Cinema,’ the British
Film Institute’s special cinema century publication.
Recently worked in RTE’S FAIRCITY special one hr episode playing Dr. Patel – on Air RTE Television,
9th March 2003.
